S.T.A.N.D.
S.T.A.N.D. is the sexual assault committee at Juniata College. S.T.A.N.D., surprisingly does not stand for anything! It is a student-based organization established with the goal of increasing awareness and education of sexual assault and violence for the Juniata College campus and surrounding community. The goals of the organization are to provide resources and information to effectively address the community's concerns, needs and problems regarding sexual assault and related issues.
A
very important annual event for S.T.A.N.D. is Take Back the Night. At this
event, students who have been sexually assaulted unite. Activities usually
include speakers that share their stories about life after being sexually
assaulted, and a candle light vigil. The event takes much planning and is
an affirming experience for all those involved.
In an effort to promote safe sex, S.T.A.N.D. distributes free condoms to students.
S.T.A.N.D. also has incident reports that students who have been sexually assaulted can fill out. All reports will remain confidential unless the student gives S.T.A.N.D. permission to discuss their situation with any professionals that the student indicates. In the meantime, if you are a student who wishes to fill out an incident report, feel free to contact one of the officers of S.T.A.N.D. (as listed below).
